Mayawati removes Akash Anand from BSP national coordinator post

Mayawati, the chief of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), has removed her nephew, Akash Anand, from his position as the party’s national coordinator. During an All India committee meeting in Lucknow, Mayawati stated that Anand requires further political maturity and experience before being entrusted with major organizational responsibilities.

While Anand has been stripped of his leadership post, he remains a member of the party and will continue to serve as a common worker. This move marks the third time in approximately two years that Anand has been removed from a key role within the party.

The leadership change comes as the BSP prepares for upcoming electoral contests, including the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls. Mayawati also announced that the party intends to contest elections independently, ruling out potential alliances.
