Mayawati reshuffles BSP leadership, sidelining Akash Anand

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati has announced a major leadership restructuring, permanently sidelining her nephew Akash Anand and his sister, Deepika Anand, from all organizational responsibilities.

Mayawati stated that the decision follows a change in Akash Anand’s conduct and political activities after his marriage. She alleged that he has come under the undue influence of his father-in-law, Ashok Siddharth, and warned that reinstating him would constitute a “betrayal” to the party’s loyal cadre.

In place of Akash and Deepika, Mayawati will promote another nephew, Ishan Anand, to a “respectable” role within the party hierarchy. She emphasized that this decision was made to ensure the party is led by members who prioritize the organization over personal interests, drawing inspiration from the political legacy of BSP founder Kanshi Ram.
