Mayawati urges constructive debate in India's Monsoon Parliament session

Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati appealed on July 19 in Lucknow to both the ruling and opposition alliances to set aside political hostility and focus on pressing public issues ahead of the Monsoon Session of Parliament beginning on July 20. She highlighted inflation, unemployment, women's safety, exam paper leaks and the alleged theft of donations at the Ayodhya Ram Temple as matters requiring serious parliamentary debate.

Mayawati also drew attention to post‑election tensions in West Bengal, alleged negligence leading to deaths of pregnant women in Rajasthan, irregularities in welfare schemes, police encounters and demolition drives, arguing that these developments erode the welfare spirit of the Constitution. She warned that external factors such as the Iran‑Israel conflict and the rupee's depreciation further strain India's economy. The BSP leader called for a smooth, peaceful and productive session to address these challenges.
