Mayday film starring Ryan Reynolds receives mixed audience reviews

The Apple TV action-comedy Mayday, starring Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh, has debuted to a divided response from audiences. While the film holds an 81% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes, it has received a 66% audience score, marking one of Reynolds’ lowest-rated projects among his titles on the platform.

Set during the Cold War, the film follows US Navy pilot Troy ‘Assassin’ Kelly, played by Reynolds, who crash-lands in Soviet territory after a secret mission fails. He forms an unlikely alliance with Nikolai Ustinov, an eccentric former KGB agent portrayed by Branagh, to attempt an escape. The film was directed and written by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, known for their work on ‘Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves’.
