Maykon Johnson Gomes Coelho arrested in Goiânia for Balsas murder

Maykon Johnson Gomes Coelho, 34, was arrested in Goiânia on 2 August after a temporary 30‑day arrest warrant was issued by the judiciary of Balsas, Maranhão. The arrest resulted from coordinated efforts between the Civil Police of Maranhão and Goiás, following a tip that the suspect was moving freely in the capital of Goiás.

Johnson is the main suspect in the stabbing death of 39‑year‑old Jackson Coelho Carvalho, which occurred on 23 July at the Associação Caminho dos Gerais in Balsas, near the MA‑140 highway. The homicide was investigated by the Balsas Homicide Division, and the regional delegate Hudson Oliveira confirmed that Johnson will be transferred to a prison in Balsas pending further judicial proceedings.
