Maynard James Keenan rejects retirement after hip surgery

Maynard James Keenan, the 62-year-old vocalist for Tool, A Perfect Circle, and Puscifer, has stated that retirement is not an option despite undergoing hip replacement surgery in August. The musician revealed that his hip issues became severe during an A Perfect Circle tour, leaving him unable to walk normally and forcing him to limp through performances.

Keenan returned to the stage just 25 days after his procedure, performing with Tool at Riot Fest in Chicago on September 19 while using a cane. His upcoming schedule includes a European tour with Puscifer starting in late October, followed by performances in Central and South America with both Puscifer and A Perfect Circle beginning in late November. He aims to complete 28 concerts across 18 countries by the end of the year.

Additionally, Tool is reportedly working on a new studio album, with a potential release targeted for 2027.
