Mayo Clinic advances myeloma therapy and AI prostate cancer monitoring

Researchers at the Mayo Clinic’s Comprehensive Cancer Center reported advances in multiple myeloma treatment that aim to personalize care based on disease biology. A study in the New England Journal of Medicine described an off‑the‑shelf dual‑antibody immunotherapy that generated deep, durable responses in patients with extramedullary myeloma, a historically hard‑to‑treat form. The clinic is also evaluating a new genomic proximity mapping test that captures the full genetic landscape of myeloma, potentially improving risk assessment and treatment selection.

In a separate effort, the Mayo Clinic’s Department of Radiation Oncology introduced the PSA Control Tower, an AI‑driven monitoring platform for prostate cancer survivors. The system aggregates PSA test trends, clinical notes, imaging and pathology data to flag early signs of recurrence, providing clinicians with real‑time dashboards and predictive risk scores. Powered by the Mayo Clinic Platform, the tool is designed to streamline follow‑up care, reduce manual review, and enable more timely interventions while maintaining clinician oversight.

Both initiatives reflect the clinic’s broader push toward precision oncology, combining novel therapeutics and advanced analytics to enhance outcomes for cancer patients.
