Mayo Clinic Pain Doctor Ryan D’Souza Wins 2026 Presidential Scholar Award

The American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine selected Dr. Ryan S. D’Souza, a pain physician at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, to receive the 2026 Presidential Scholar Award. The award, presented semiannually to mid‑career physician‑investigators for outstanding contributions to regional anesthesia and pain medicine, will be conferred on November 7, 2026 at the 25th Annual Pain Medicine Meeting in Tampa, Florida.

Dr. D’Souza serves as a professor of anesthesiology, director of Neuromodulation, director of Research at the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine, and medical director of the Anesthesia Clinical Research Unit. His work includes developing consensus guidelines for peripheral nerve stimulation, advancing regenerative‑medicine treatments for chronic pain, and pioneering systematic‑review methods. He has authored more than 220 peer‑reviewed articles and 14 book chapters, and holds editorial roles with Regional Anesthesia & Pain Medicine. Nominators highlighted his impact on research, education, and mentorship.
