Mayo Clinic uses AI tool Record Time to cut patient‑record prep time

Mayo Clinic’s internal‑medicine physicians are testing an artificial‑intelligence system called Record Time that scans and organizes patients’ medical records. The tool can trim doctors’ preparation time by five to thirty minutes per visit, allowing more face‑to‑face interaction and helping avoid missed details.

The hospital has partnered with Microsoft and Scale AI, and reports roughly 150 AI models are already in use across its facilities. Record Time is also being evaluated in a clinical trial to flag early‑stage pancreatic cancer, aiming to detect the disease years before standard diagnosis.

Separately, former research‑operations director Traci Tamiko Eto has sued Mayo Clinic, alleging retaliation after she raised concerns about privacy and oversight of the AI systems. Mayo Clinic says its AI deployment follows all applicable privacy, security and compliance regulations.
