Mayo GAA chairperson Séamus Tuohy passes away
The Mayo GAA community is mourning the death of chairperson Séamus Tuohy following a recent illness. Tuohy, a native of the Breaffy club, was elected as chairperson in 2021 and had previously served as vice chairperson and Chairperson of Bord na nÓg.
Tuohy was a prominent figure in Gaelic games, overseeing Mayo's recent All-Ireland football victory which ended a 75-year wait for the Sam Maguire trophy. GAA president Jarlath Burns described him as a “hugely influential” figure who epitomized the caliber of volunteers driving the association.
Mayo GAA released a statement expressing devastation, noting that Tuohy was regarded as a mentor and friend who was deeply committed to the development of clubs and volunteers across the county.
