Mayo GAA orders replay after substitution controversy

A replay has been ordered for the Mayo Egan Jewellers Intermediate Football Championship quarter-final between Kiltane and Islandeady. The decision follows a controversy regarding player numbers during their recent match.

Kiltane originally defeated Islandeady with a score of 0-27 to 1-21. However, Islandeady successfully appealed the result after it was discovered that Kiltane played the extra-time period with a full complement of 15 players. During normal time, Kiltane had two players, Mikie Sweeney and Mickey Conroy, sent off on second yellow cards, leaving them with 13 players. Under current rules, players sent off in normal time are not permitted to be replaced.

Following a review by the Mayo CCC, the match is scheduled to be replayed on Sunday, October 4th, at 3pm in Parke.
