Mayo LGFA calls for better integration and resources
The Mayo Ladies Gaelic Football Association (LGFA) has issued a formal statement addressing the integration of ladies' football within the wider Mayo GAA structure. The organization is seeking greater involvement in decision-making processes and more reliable access to facilities, funding, and governance.
The LGFA highlighted significant resource challenges, noting that the organization, which serves over 7,000 members, lacks its own clubhouse, office, or pitch. Currently, equipment and jerseys are stored in the homes of volunteers. The statement also noted that no Mayo County Integration Committee meetings have occurred in 2026, despite previous instructions to establish committees for fixtures, finance, and governance.
In a gesture of support, Andy and Jen Moran of The Movement provided unlimited gym access to Mayo’s senior ladies footballers to assist with individual training sessions. This support comes as players face financial pressures, with nutrition allowances capped at €20 per week and limited mileage payments.
