Mayor Bally Bagayoko of Saint‑Denis faces anti‑corruption complaint over alleged RATP job‑cumulation

The anti‑corruption association AC!! filed a complaint with the Parquet national financier against Bally Bagayoko, mayor of Saint‑Denis, accusing him of misusing public funds, illegal interest, favoritism and the illegal cumulation of public functions. The complaint alleges that Bagayoko, who also serves as adjoint mayor and vice‑president of the departmental council, has held a full‑time cadre position at the RATP since 2000, reportedly hired without a competitive exam and receiving more than €6,000 a month in salary plus a 13th month and bonuses. It further claims that after losing a departmental mandate in 2015 the municipal council raised his adjoint‑mayor allowance by 102 %. French law prohibits holding two full‑time public jobs unless a specific authorization is granted; AC!! is demanding verification of any such authorisation from the RATP or the prefecture and proof that Bagayoko actually performed his RATP duties while serving as elected official. Bagayoko did not respond to AFP inquiries.
