Mayor Carlos Villarreal Tops Coahuila Approval Rankings as Cruz Pérez Cuéllar Gains 60.5% in Nuevo Laredo

Carlos Villarreal Pérez, the mayor of Monclova, Coahuila, achieved the highest approval rating among the state's mayors in a July 2026 survey by Statistical Research Corporation, receiving 60.8% citizen support. The poll placed him ahead of mayors in Saltillo, Ramos Arizpe and Acuña.

In a separate June 2026 Mitofsky study, Cruz Pérez Cuéllar, mayor of Nuevo Laredo, registered a 60.5% approval rating while he is on temporary leave to pursue the Morena candidacy for the Chihuahua governorship. The survey also listed Nuevo Laredo’s mayor Carmen Canturosas as the top‑rated border mayor at 64.1%.

Both surveys reflect strong local backing for the two officials amid broader political activity within the Morena party in northern Mexico.
