Mayor Carmen Lilia Canturosas launches solar power system and new planetarium in Nuevo Laredo

Mayor Carmen Lilia Canturosas inaugurated a solar photovoltaic system at the Nuevo Laredo Cultural Center. The project, costing 20,047,075 pesos, installed 890 panels and is expected to cut the center’s electricity consumption by up to 50%, marking the city’s push toward renewable energy and sustainable public infrastructure.

The mayor also supervised the construction progress of a new planetarium in Nuevo Laredo, reviewing audio and video system tests and confirming that the facility is nearing completion. The planetarium is intended to serve as an educational and tourist attraction, promoting science learning for children and adults and expanding the city’s cultural offerings.
