Mayor Chepe Guerrero introduces smart trash bins and leads cleanup in Corregidora, Mexico

Corregidora mayor Chepe Guerrero organized a cleanup and maintenance operation in the Punta Esmeralda neighborhood after its official hand‑over to the municipality, with municipal staff, councilors and community members pruning trees, cleaning streets and green areas.

Guerrero also announced the installation of 15 double‑sided SULO Bigbelly smart trash bins equipped with QR codes for real‑time reporting of fullness or maintenance needs. The initiative earned Corregidora the international “Escoba de Platino” award from the Technical Association for Waste Management and the Environment (ATEGRUS) in Madrid, recognizing its expanded street‑sweeping routes, collection of over 200 tonnes of waste and the new intelligent waste‑collection system.
