Mayor Elena Nappi attends Venice Film Festival for Veronesi premiere
Elena Nappi, the mayor of Castiglione della Pescaia, attended the 83rd Venice International Film Festival red carpet as a guest of director Giovanni Veronesi. She accompanied Veronesi for the presentation of his new film, ‘Dio ride’, which served as the festival's closing film out of competition.
The film, set in the 17th century and inspired by real events, stars Pierfrancesco Favino as a religious figure whose simple approach to faith attracts the attention of ecclesiastical authorities. Veronesi maintains a long-standing connection to the Maremma region and Castiglione della Pescaia, having established the ‘Festa del Cinema a Mare’ initiative there.
Nappi expressed pride in representing her municipality on an international stage, noting that the event serves as a significant opportunity to promote the local territory. ‘Dio ride’ is scheduled for release in Italian theaters on October 29.
