Mayor Frederico Paes launches Centro Mais Seguro revitalization program in Campos dos Goytacazes
Mayor Frederico Paes inaugurated the "Centro Mais Seguro" program on June 1 to revitalize the historic and commercial center of Campos dos Goytacazes. The initiative targets five strategic areas: security, monitoring, urban revitalization, economic development, and social protection.
Immediate actions include deploying 18 municipal guard agents for 24‑hour patrols, three night‑time police vehicles, two daytime motorcycles and a support van. The program also schedules weekly cleaning, upgrades to street lighting, repairs of sewers, gutters and sidewalks, and plans for bike‑rack installations. Urban improvements will feature a new Poupa Tempo service unit and integrated municipal services. Cultural and tourism components involve events and promotions to increase foot traffic and strengthen the city's identity.
The rollout is coordinated with local business leaders, the Chamber of Shopkeepers, the municipal council, the OAB, Sebrae, Carjopa and other civil‑society groups, aiming to attract consumers, generate jobs, strengthen commerce and improve safety for residents and visitors.
