Mayor Jacobo Rodríguez Accused of 31 Million‑Peso Fraud in Múzquiz

Former municipal secretary Mónica Escalera publicly accused Mayor Jacobo Rodríguez of corrupt dealings with the firm AIKIN, alleging that the company billed the Múzquiz municipality for more than 31 million pesos for works that were never performed. She says the mayor and his brother bought five municipal patrol vehicles at an inflated price, then repurchased them at a lower price, constituting a fraud scheme. Escalera claims she filed fourteen complaints that led to criminal investigations against former mayor Tania Flores and others. Rodríguez responded by calling Escalera a “mercenary.” The dispute centers on alleged collusion, fictitious invoicing, and misuse of public funds in the Coahuila municipality of Múzquiz.
