Mayor Javier Díaz launches new youth programs in Saltillo

Mayor Javier Díaz González said supporting Saltillo’s youth is a top priority of his administration. Working with Governor Manolo Jiménez Salinas, he announced a series of initiatives, including the creation of the Consejo Ciudadano Juvenil, the Municipal Youth Award and the "Fiesta Segura" campaign aimed at preventing alcohol‑related accidents.

The city held the first Interprepas tournament, drawing 700 high‑school students to compete in football, singing, dance and a spelling bee, with a prize pool of 45,000 pesos. A model United Nations program, TuMUNicipio, brought about 100 young leaders to the state congress to debate local and global issues. In partnership with the firm Prudence, the municipal institute delivered sexual‑health and prevention workshops to more than 1,500 students, while also providing sports equipment and exam‑preparation courses. Díaz served as padrino for the Generation 159 graduation at the Ateneo Fuente, attended by officials from the Universidad Autónoma de Coahuila and the state education secretariat.
