Javier Navarro, the mayor of Tomelloso, has suffered significant hearing loss in his right ear following an incident involving a 'chupinazo' rocket. The explosion occurred less than one meter from the mayor during local festivities.

After initially attempting to continue with scheduled events, Navarro sought medical attention at the Hospital de Tomelloso and was subsequently referred to the Hospital Mancha Centro. Medical professionals diagnosed him with acoustic trauma affecting the inner ear. He has been prescribed a course of corticosteroids to reduce inflammation, and doctors will monitor his progress to determine the extent of his recovery.
