Chiapan Governor Opens Revamped ZooMAT Main Entrance with Multi‑Million Peso Upgrade

Governor Eduardo Ramírez Aguilar inaugurated the newly rebuilt main entrance of the ZooMAT Center for Conservation and Natural Reserve in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas. The project is part of a multi‑year investment program, with more than 13.6 million pesos allocated this year and over 29.5 million pesos spent in 2025 on works such as a pedestrian bridge, trail extensions, building repairs, and habitat renovations.

Authorities said the upgrades will be followed by the opening of a butterfly house, a turtle house, an aviary and further beautification projects, aiming to position the zoo as a world‑class conservation and tourism site by 2030.
