Mayor Lillo Pistone resigns in Spadafora, Italy

On 2 August, Lillo Pistone formally submitted his resignation as mayor of the Sicilian town of Spadafora, following a recent prefectural suspension. In a PEC‑sent note he described the decision as “deep and painful” and said it was taken to protect the institution, ensure the continuity of municipal administration and avoid any impact on the town’s image.

Pistone stressed that his resignation does not imply an admission of guilt regarding the judicial investigations involving him. He expressed “full confidence in the work of the magistrates,” thanked the citizens, the municipal council, the executive board and all municipal staff, and urged that the local administration continue its work in a climate of tranquility.
