Mayor Ljubiša Ćosić pledges police action after East Sarajevo shooting

Mayor Ljubiša Ćosić said residents of East Sarajevo are anxious following a recent shooting, but expressed confidence that the Ministry of Interior of Republika Srpska and local police will find answers. He emphasized that no one in the country is stronger than the state and that the authorities are already taking steps.

Ćosić urged members of criminal groups to cease retaliatory attacks, warned that the judiciary has been slow, and noted that repeat offenders have often received only light sanctions. He pledged to convey citizens' concerns to the interior minister and the police director, reaffirming East Sarajevo as a symbol of security.

The statements come as the city prepares for upcoming elections in Republika Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the mayor urging calm and rule of law.
