Mayor Mariel Fernández Visits Literacy Centers in Moreno’s Paso del Rey and Trujui

Moreno’s mayor, Mariel Fernández, toured municipal literacy centers in the neighborhoods of Paso del Rey and Trujui. The visits highlighted the “Moreno Lee y Escribe” program, which targets second‑cycle primary students to improve reading and writing skills. Fernández noted that the initiative now serves about 2,000 children across more than 60 centers in the municipality and praised the commitment of families and volunteer tutors.

A mother reported her child’s progress, saying he advanced 80 % and could now write sentences and read stories. Volunteer educators emphasized how the program encourages shy children to become more vocal. The centers will pause activities for the winter break, but enrollment will remain open for when school resumes.
