Mayor Mauricio Tabe expands Miguel Hidalgo community kitchens to 55 sites

The Miguel Hidalgo borough in Mexico City has increased its "Manos a la Olla" community kitchen network from 50 to 55 locations, marking the largest such network in the capital. Each kitchen now serves 75 meals a day, up from 70, providing more than 4,000 hot, complete meals daily to residents of 85 % of the borough’s popular neighborhoods.

The expansion is part of Mayor Mauricio Tabe’s "Primero las Mujeres" agenda, which seeks to lessen household inequality and free women’s time for education, work or personal development. The mayor highlighted the program’s community‑driven model and praised Director General of Development Social Carlos Gelista for overseeing food supply and operations.
