Siska and Sunje water project gets over €2.2 million funding
Croatian Minister of Environment and Green Transition Marija Vučković visited the Sisačko‑Moslavačka County to hand over a co‑financing contract worth more than €2.2 million for the development of water supply and drainage systems serving the city of Sisak and the municipality of Sunja. The agreement, signed with Sisački water director Igor Valešić and Hrvatske vode chief Zoran Đuroković, covers restoration of the Tišina riverbed, construction of a new 7‑km main pipeline (Blinjski kut–Sunja) and the extension of over 11 km of public water network.
The project will provide improved access to quality water for roughly 3,500 residents, of whom about 2,100 already benefit from the earlier phase. It also includes building about 2 km of new drainage in Sisak for 175 inhabitants and 1.76 km plus reconstruction of 2.06 km of water lines in Sunja for 360 people, aiming to cut water losses from 57 % to about 43 %. Officials highlight the broader impact on rural development and agriculture in the region.
