Mayor Miro Bulj blamed for Mojanka landfill crisis

Owners of the waste‑management consortium Čistoća Cetinske krajine – the municipalities of Trilj, Hrvace, Dicmo and Otok – say Sinj mayor Miro Bulj is responsible for the current crisis at the Mojanka landfill. The state inspectorate ordered the landfill closed, and the owners allege Bulj promised a financial guarantee to keep it operating but has not delivered it. They argue that the missing guarantee was a key factor in the shutdown and that Bulj is now trying to shift responsibility onto other owners.

The owners recall a meeting on 20 May with the Fund for Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency, where they discussed permit issues, the guarantee and continuation of waste‑service for residents of the Cetinska region. They have asked the Ministry of Environment for an urgent meeting to find a lawful, sustainable solution. Bulj has said he will reopen the landfill at the city's own risk, limiting waste intake to the Sinj area only, while the owners stress the joint company must act in the interest of all owners and citizens.
