Mayor of Čelčice insults Senate candidate Dagmar Pecková

Karel Černý, the mayor of Čelčice, has drawn criticism for using vulgar language toward opera singer Dagmar Pecková on social media. Pecková, a non-partisan candidate for the Senate in the Prague 9 district, posted a video discussing her upcoming television debate and campaign program.

Černý responded to the video with the insult, “Get the hell out, you greedy German swindler.” Despite backlash from citizens and political figures, including ODS spokesperson Jakub Skyva, who criticized the mayor's conduct as a public official, Černý refused to delete the comment. He defended his stance by stating he is a person who dislikes “crooks and cowards.”

Critics have condemned the mayor's behavior, noting that such vulgarity is a sign of poor argumentation. Černý, who has led the village of approximately 500 residents since 2011, also responded to comments regarding his taxpayer-funded position by stating that he earns his own living at age 70.
