Mayor of Itamarati de Minas kidnapped during home invasion

Césio Ladeira, the 66-year-old mayor of Itamarati de Minas, was kidnapped during a home invasion in the early hours of Wednesday. Criminals entered the mayor's residence in the city center, where they also targeted his 66-year-old wife.

Police arrived at the scene after municipal workers heard cries for help. Officers found the mayor's wife tied up and injured inside the home. The suspects fled with the mayor, approximately R$ 130,000 in cash, two mobile phones, a registered 9mm pistol, and a white Fiat Toro pickup truck.

Following a police perimeter and search operation, the mayor was located tied up inside the stolen vehicle, which had been abandoned on a local road near the AMG-0525. Authorities also recovered the stolen mobile phones along the suspects' escape route. The Military and Civil Police are conducting investigations to identify and locate those responsible for the crime.
