Mayor of Tireo Files Complaint Against Lieutenant Colonel Pacheco Perdomo Over Alleged Illegal Arrest

Mayor Paul Amín Piña Báez of the Tireo municipality submitted a formal complaint to the Inspector General of the Dominican National Police and several state institutions, alleging that Lieutenant Colonel Pacheco Perdomo and participating officers detained him illegally and arbitrarily. The mayor asserts that no arrest warrant existed, the alleged alimony debt had been satisfied, and the detention violated due‑process rights. He requests an administrative, disciplinary and, if warranted, criminal investigation, and asks authorities to examine any link between his arrest and earlier public accusations he made about irregular conduct by police officers in Constanza and Tireo.

The complaint was also copied to the Ministry of Interior and Police, the Director General of the National Police, the Attorney General’s Office, the Ombudsman, the National Human Rights Commission and national media, seeking sanctions if misconduct is confirmed.
