Mayor orders three-month closure of Van Stralenstraat nightclub

A mayor has ordered the immediate three-month closure and sealing of a nightclub on Van Stralenstraat, effective from October 12, 2026, to January 11, 2027. The decision follows a series of violent incidents, most recently a stabbing where a patron was struck in the abdomen during a fight.

Police records indicate twelve incidents occurred in or near the venue between February 2025 and September 2026, including fights, assaults with bottles and knives, thefts, and aggression involving intoxicated individuals. The closure aims to restore peace to the neighborhood and protect residents and passersby near the Rooseveltplaats, where conflicts have frequently escalated on the streets during closing hours.
