Mayor Pablo González Cacheiro Blames Concessionaire for Oza Cesuras Water Crisis
After a pipe rupture on the night of 30 July disrupted water supply to several villages in Oza Cesuras, the service was restored on 7 August at 19:00. Mayor Pablo González Cacheiro appeared before the media, emphasizing that he holds no hydraulic engineering qualifications and that the concessionaire, Espina y Delfín, is contractually responsible for the network’s operation and maintenance.
González Cacheiro detailed the sequence of events, noting a second failure and low river flow that complicated repairs, and criticized the concessionaire’s handling of the crisis. He also mentioned that the manager of Espina y Delfín was replaced due to stress during the incident. The mayor defended the municipality’s response, stating that the data now confirm the restoration of supply and dismissing accusations of political misuse of the situation.
