Serbian oil supply remains stable despite low Danube water levels

Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Đedović Handanović said that Serbia’s supply of oil products will stay stable in August despite the low water level of the Danube, which hampers rail transport. She noted that Naftna industrija Srbije (NIS) expects a record diesel demand of about 200,000 tonnes and that the refinery in Pančevo can meet this demand, with reserves sufficient for roughly a month and a half of consumption. The ministry highlighted that imports are limited because of the Danube’s low level, but NIS’s own stocks and refinery output will compensate. The minister also confirmed that gasoline supplies remain steady and that NIS aims to increase daily processing from 11,000 tonnes to 13,000 tonnes.
