Mayor Torchio addresses waste problem at Paderno d'Adda railway station
Mayor Gianpaolo Torchio of Paderno d'Adda said a brief intervention was necessary regarding the waste piled up at the Paderno‑Robbiate train station. He clarified that the area where the container sits is not municipal property, limiting the town’s direct action.
The municipal technical office coordinated with railway operator RFI, and on 26 June the container was emptied and fenced, though the problem re‑appeared quickly. The mayor reported ongoing talks with the RFI regional station director to also address the always‑on lighting at the station's forecourt. He apologized to residents and travelers who reported the issue, noting the town’s broader waste‑collection services and the difficulty of fully eliminating such litter.
"Credo però che un breve intervento in merito ai rifiuti presso la stazione di Paderno‑Robbiate sia ormai doveroso," Torchio said, emphasizing the need for a definitive solution.
