New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani was met with loud boos and jeers at the NYPD’s 43rd Patrol Borough National Night Out Against Crime on Staten Island. About 3,500 residents gathered at the Midland Beach boardwalk, but the mayor’s remarks lasted less than a minute before he was escorted offstage.

The hostile reception followed earlier criticism of Mamdani’s past statements, including a resurfaced 2016 interview in which he used a pronounced Ugandan accent while promoting a Disney film. Conservatives accused him of cultural appropriation and mocked the clip online.

Separately, cyber analysts reported a network of automated X/Twitter accounts amplifying Mamdani’s posts, tracing the bot farm’s IP addresses to New York City Hall infrastructure. If verified, the operation could represent misuse of public resources and a breach of city ethics rules.
