Mayoral candidates announce runs in Yellowknife and Langley City

Several municipal mayoral races are forming in Canada. In Yellowknife, current city councillor Garett Cochrane has formally declared his intention to run for mayor in the upcoming fall election. Cochrane, who describes himself as the first gay Métis on council, aims to focus on strategic growth, critical infrastructure, housing pressures, and public safety ahead of the city’s 2034 centenary. The incumbent, Ben Hendriksen, has indicated he will not seek re-election.

In Langley City, Councillor Delaney Mack has announced her candidacy for mayor. Mack is leading a slate of candidates for council, including Andrew Flitton, Rick Orlando, Simi Rajput, Michael Hylands, and Scott Thompson. The campaign emphasizes a need for new leadership to address rising taxes, public safety concerns, and the desire for more meaningful public input in local decision-making.
