Nigerian singer Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, known as Mayorkun, has shared details regarding his signing to Davido’s record label. During an appearance on the Afropolitan podcast, Mayorkun revealed that he experienced a period of intense panic after quitting his job at a commercial bank to pursue music.
Mayorkun stated that Davido had promised to sign him after seeing a video of him singing online, but the artist subsequently stopped communicating with him for two weeks. During this period, Mayorkun sought spiritual assistance through church attendance.
He recounted that immediately after leading a praise and worship session at church, Davido contacted him via WhatsApp, instructing him to pack his belongings and move into his house. Mayorkun described the timing of the message as a miraculous testimony.
