Mayors demand priority upgrades for SS 639 highway
Mayors from Monte Marenzo, Cisano Bergamasco, and Calolziocorte are calling for the SS 639 highway to be designated a priority for infrastructure improvements. During a public meeting held in Levata, local leaders addressed critical safety issues on the road segment between the Cesare Cantù bridge roundabout and the Cisano bypass.
Key concerns raised include an extremely narrow roadway that creates hazards for heavy vehicles, poor road surface conditions, insufficient lighting, and a lack of safe paths for pedestrians and cyclists. Residents also noted that heavy traffic frequently obstructs emergency vehicle access.
The mayors are urging Anas and the Lombardy Region to accelerate redevelopment plans, specifically focusing on widening the roadway between Bisone, Levata, and Sala and creating continuous pedestrian and cycling paths. Regional and provincial councilors expressed support for these demands, emphasizing the strategic importance of this interprovincial connection.
