Buenos Aires Mayors Reject Land Law Reform at San Vicente Meeting

Mayors of the Province of Buenos Aires gathered in San Vicente for a Liga de Intendentes meeting, where they collectively rejected the national government's proposal to amend the Land Law, warning that such changes could threaten national sovereignty and strategic resources. The assembly, attended by municipal leaders including Federico Susbielles (Bahía Blanca), Esteban "Tito" Sanzio (Baradero), and others, also welcomed a new member, Esteban Sanzio, expanding the league's representation.

During the session, the mayors voiced concerns about the impact of the reform on the province and called on citizens to mobilize in defense of the country's soil and future. In related remarks, Gustavo Menéndez, mayor of Merlo, argued that the next provincial governor should be a mayor, emphasizing the need for local leadership ahead of the 2027 elections. The meeting underscored the Liga's role as a unified political voice for Buenos Aires municipalities.

The mayors also highlighted ongoing coordination with Governor Axel Kicillof, noting that the provincial government shares their concerns about the land law amendment and supports the league's stance.
