Mayors in Veracruz and Morelos Accused of Corruption

Luis Antonio Burillo Arenas filed a complaint with the Mexican Anti‑Corruption Prosecutor against Roberto Isla Campuzano, the mayor of Jalcomulco, Veracruz, alleging fraud and illegal taking of a house after the mayor failed to complete payments on a 3.5 million‑peso purchase and began remodeling the property using public resources.

In Cuautla, Morelos, the municipal council announced that former mayor Jesús “N” faces eleven separate complaints for alleged diversion of public funds, unfinished public‑works projects and possible links to organized crime. The council said audits are underway and further legal actions will be pursued against the ex‑official and any implicated contractors.
