Mayors Mourão and Damião unveil development and infrastructure plans in Valadares and Belo Horizonte

Governor Valadares mayor José Bonifácio Mourão announced his first‑level secretariat, naming officials for health, education, works, planning and economic development. He said the new team will accelerate municipal works, reopen the Filadélfia viaduct, restructure the municipal hospital and partially open the regional hospital by June, and attract companies to create 800‑1,000 jobs after the municipality joined the Sudene program.

Belo Horizonte mayor Álvaro Damião outlined a business‑friendly agenda, promising to approve new private projects and keep the capital “open to investment.” He highlighted ongoing health system strain, a R$140 million security‑camera rollout, smart traffic‑light deployment, the introduction of at least 100 electric buses, and major construction such as the cathedral in Venda Nova. Damião stressed a pragmatic, project‑first approach over party politics.

Both mayors emphasize infrastructure upgrades, public‑service improvements and strategies to attract investment to their Minas Gerais cities.
