Mayors of Catanzaro, Cosenza, and Vibo Valentia protest transport reform

The mayors of Catanzaro, Cosenza, and Vibo Valentia—Nicola Fiorita, Franz Caruso, and Enzo Romeo—have issued a joint statement protesting their exclusion from discussions regarding a proposed law on the regulation of local public transport services.

The mayors claim that the IV Regional Council Commission proceeded to approve the amended bill despite their formal request to postpone their hearing due to unavoidable institutional commitments. They argue that the lack of consultation is disrespectful to their institutional roles, especially since the reform will impact municipal finances and the governance of regional urban systems.

The mayors are calling for the intervention of Occhiuto, emphasizing that they are not seeking special privileges but rather the right to contribute to a legislative process that will have concrete consequences for their communities and the organization of public transport.
