Mayors of Ciudad Madero and Torreón face criticism over council sessions and road project cancellation

Erasmo González Robledo, mayor of Ciudad Madero, is accused of violating the municipal code by failing to convene the council the three times per month required by law. Regidora Mayra Ojeda Chávez said the mayor avoids sessions amid complaints about garbage, potholes and lack of services, and noted his intent to seek re‑election in 2027 despite falling approval and allegations of involvement in fuel‑theft networks.

Miguel Ángel Riquelme Solís, mayor of Torreón, announced the cancellation of the "Sistema Vial El Campesino" road project. The nearly 400 million‑peso multiyear funding will be redirected to urgent public‑service needs such as water supply, road paving, drainage and other infrastructure, with Riquelme arguing that other works must be completed first and that opening a new construction front would strain municipal resources.
