Mayors of Recife and Barra Mensa Unveil New Public Parks and Recreation Spaces

Recife Mayor Vitor Marques inaugurated the final phase of the Roque Santeiro Park in the Bairro dos Coelhos, completing a R$13 million urban transformation that adds a sports court, administrative pavilion, sculpture bank and a floating deck to support fishermen and river tourism. The project replaces former shanty housing with dignified homes and public amenities.

Barra Mensa Mayor Luiz Furlani opened the fully renovated Praça Professora Jandira Reis de Oliveira and the municipality’s first pet playground, featuring new landscaping, children's equipment, a sand box and a dedicated obstacle course for dogs. The upgrades aim to improve quality of life and serve as a model for further neighborhood revitalizations.
