Mayors of Yeongju and Sangju Push for National Budget Funding
Mayors Hwang Byung‑jik of Yeongju and Ahn Jae‑min of Sangju visited central government bodies in Seoul to secure national budget support for a slate of local projects. Hwang met National Assembly members, highlighting initiatives such as a drone test‑evaluation center, a branch of the National Gugak Center, a water‑ecology education institute, carbon‑neutral cellulose development, advanced mobility component research, and major transport infrastructure upgrades. He said, "Reflecting Yeongju’s key projects in national policy and budget is paramount for the city’s future."
Ahn met officials from the Office of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. He requested continued funding for a strategic crops industrialization program, a smart‑farm youth incubator, and several transport projects, including the central inland high‑speed rail segment (Mungyeong‑Sangju‑Gimcheon), new road alignments and lane expansions. Ahn noted that these projects “align closely with national goals and will drive regional development.” Both mayors intend to continue lobbying to secure the necessary allocations.
