Mayotte and Réunion host major walking events in 2026

The Challenge Mayotte Tour will stage the "24 hours de Bandrani" endurance race on 12‑13 September 2026 in the Grand Nord of Mayotte. Participants will follow an 8 km loop between Bandrani and the Dzoumogné hill reservoir, with three format options of 6, 12 or 24 hours. The event welcomes walkers and runners of all levels, and registration closes on 6 September. Organizer Chadhouli Youssouf said the goal is to show that self‑challenge is accessible to everyone and that participants will receive a collector finisher shirt.

On 23 August 2026, the Mutualité de La Réunion will hold the 28th edition of the "Marche de la mutualité" near the Saline‑les‑Bains stadium. The health‑focused walk offers four routes – 2 km, 6 km, 12 km and a children’s orientation course – and promotes the Afghan walking technique that synchronises steps with breathing. The annual event draws more than 3 500 participants of all ages, aiming to encourage well‑being, physical activity and mindful movement.
