Mayra De Gracia's novel 'Una Navidad en Boquete' to be adapted into film

Panamanian author Mayra De Gracia has announced that her novel, ‘Una Navidad en Boquete’, is being adapted into a film. The project is set to be the first Panamanian romantic comedy to reach the big screen.

The film is currently in development with Seedling Media Productions, Brittany DeVries, and Alfonso Baysa. The screenplay is being co-written by De Gracia and filmmaker Gaby Méndez. The production aims to feature a 100% Panamanian cast and will be filmed entirely within Panama, specifically highlighting the Boquete district, Alto Boquete, and Panama City.

The original novel, released in December 2025, follows the story of Miranda, a woman seeking a fresh start in the mountains of Boquete, and Mateo, a chef. The story explores their developing relationship amidst the preparations for a Christmas wedding.
