Mayu Hotta and Moeka Hoshi join cast of NHK drama Blossom

NHK has announced that actresses Mayu Hotta and Moeka Hoshi will join the cast of the morning drama series Blossom. The series is modeled after the life of writer Chiyo Uno, following the story of protagonist Tamu Yano, played by Shizuka Ishibashi.

Mayu Hotta will portray Sayoko Mori, a popular writer whose character is inspired by the life of Fumiko Hayashi. Hotta expressed her intention to capture the character's honesty and resilience. Moeka Hoshi will make her debut in the morning drama series as Momoyo Kadota, a teacher and supporter of the character Fuko Dobashi.

The production emphasizes that the characters will navigate the literary world during the early Showa era, a period of transition for female writers.
