Mayuko Wakuda to debut on commercial variety show during Tokyo Bay cruise

Former NHK announcer Mayuko Wakuda will make her first appearance on a commercial variety program during the “Gochi ni Narimasu!” segment of Nippon TV’s “Guruguru Ninety-Nine 2-Hour Special,” airing September 10.

The episode features a “Cruising Gochi” theme, where participants compete while cruising Tokyo Bay aboard the luxury vessel “Symphony.” The segment includes a mystery-themed quiz and an improvisational comedy battle. Participants, including Akira Kawashima and Seiya, will face challenges such as “romantic proposals” overlooking the Rainbow Bridge and solving a staged murder mystery occurring on the ship's deck.

In addition to the competition, the program will feature discussions regarding Wakuda’s transition from NHK and Kawashima’s experiences as a morning news host. The episode also tracks the ongoing “self-pay” race, where participants must guess food costs to avoid paying out of pocket.
